Craftwork have developed an impressive range of metal column casings which can be manufactured from either aluminium or stainless steel.
Aluminium column casings can be finished in a wide range of RAL colours by applying a durable layer of polyester powder coat. Aluminium column casings can also be manufactured incorporating a variety of checker plate patterns or with perforated holes / slots (Typical metal thickness for aluminium casings is 2 to 3mm).
Stainless steel column casings are normally supplied brushed finish in natural silver. However polished and coloured oxide tints can also be achieved at an additional cost (Typical metal thickness for Stainless Steel casings is 0.5 to 1.2mm). Please click on the images below to see examples of metal column casings, which will give a flavour of what can be achieved. Alternatively please view our project gallery which showcases all column types.
Column casings are manufactured by introducing sheet metal into either a CNC pressbrake or pyramid rolling machine which form / bend the sheet metal into the desired profile / shape. Male and Female overlapping joints (Known as joggles) are introduce to the profiled column casing also by using INC pressbrake machining methods.
Numerous cross sectional shapes and configurations are possible including circular, square, rectangular, triangular, elliptical, hexagonal, octagonal, sharp or rounded corner features, etc....
Key Advantages; * Design flexibility - numerous configurations and shapes available; * Metal / RAL colours; * High strength durable; * Ideal for internal and external use; * Speed of manufacture and site Installation. * No wet trades required; * Costs can be value engineered by varying the thickness and type; * None combustible; * Secret fix jointing system available;
Key Disadvantage * Although generally very stong, once damaged can be difficult to touch up and repair on site. * Cost of Stainless Steel and metal generally.
